Hassan elected to Slovenian Academy of Engineering
Dr. Yassin Hassan was elected as a corresponding member of the Slovenian Academy of Engineering for his outstanding contributions to the fields of technical sciences.

The Slovenian Academy of Engineering (IAS) elected Dr. Yassin Hassan, professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University, as a corresponding (foreign) member to their distinguished ranks.
Elected corresponding members are awarded based on their outstanding achievements in technical sciences, technological development, introduction of new technologies and products, and efficient development of industrial companies and other business establishments, according to IAS. Hassan was one of eight who were presented membership this year.
This marks the third year that membership was awarded to non-Slovenian citizens who met all conditions for election as full members, including cooperating with Slovenian companies and researchers in the past.
Hassan joined the department as an associate professor in 1986 and has previously served as department head. He is a Texas A&M University System Regents Professor, Texas A&M Distinguished Professor and holder of the L.F. Peterson ‘36 Chair II. He also serves as the director of the Center for Advanced Small Modular and Micro Nuclear Reactors.
Hassan is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Nuclear Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
