Through the generosity of the Aggie engineering family, students are able to receive life-changing support that creates a lasting impact. Scholarship recipients long remember the act of generosity they received and frequently inspire their own acts of generosity. Harold Stancil ’73, a former student of electrical engineering, is giving back to support the college that once supported him by establishing the Sandy and Harold Stancil ’73 Endowed Scholarship.

Born and raised in Aggieland

As the son of a military science professor at Texas A&M University, Harold Stancil ’73 always knew he would become an Aggie one day. In gratitude for his electrical engineering education and all that Aggieland has given him, he hopes to return the favor by supporting the next generation of engineers.

“As an electrical engineer, I designed systems for the U.S. Navy Trident missile program for 44 years,” Stancil said.

After graduation, he moved from College Station to California, where he met and married Sandy. They retired in 2020 and moved to the Hill Country. They frequently return to Aggieland to visit friends and catch an Aggie football game.

“I owe my success to being an Aggie engineer,” Stancil said.

Through the Sandy and Harold Stancil ’73 Endowed Scholarship, their generosity will create a lasting impact they hope will not only support, but inspire.

“I hope to take the financial load off someone who can contribute to the field and then pay it back to the next student,” Stancil said.
